triexercise. is an educational talk series hosted at the Olson Center, and partnering with the Omaha Triathlon, that will cover topics from running to nutrition to training.  The goal is to help YOU accomplish YOUR goal of exercise.  Whether it's competing in a triathlon or walking a mile without losing your breath, triexercise. wants to be your support partner.

Each talk will host an expert in a particular field.  Timely information will be presented along with Q&A and demonstrations.  The series will begin January 24th and run until June.  Each talk will take place over the noon hour so bring your lunch.  The series is hosted in the Olson Center Classroom on the 4th floor of the Durham Outpatient Center.  All talks are FREE and open to all.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. January 24
"Fit for Life" - Sandy Bikus, USAT Certified Coach, triathlete and owner of SwimBikusRun, will present a motivating talk on how exercise is a journey and investing in yourself is essential.  She will challenge you on developing your circle of friends, to think outside the box with your exercise routine, time management and how to develop YOUR plan.  To read more about Sandy, please visit her website.

February 9
"Are You Wearing the Right Shoes?" - Mike Ewoldt, co-owner of Peak Performance, marathoner, race director, will present on the difference between running, walking, and cross training shoes.  Mike will explain why you need to ditch the cotton, review the various running accessories that may help you, and basic overview of frequently occuring running injuries due to poor shoes!  Peak Performance is the only specialty running store in the Omaha area.  Peak helps people with selecting and fitting of their running, walking, and cross-training shoes.  A partner we all could use! 

February 23
"Overcoming "Limiters" That Hold Us Back" - Lincoln Murdoch, World Champion triathlete, author and pastor will present on the obstacles our life throws at us that make it difficult in getting exercise and training in our schedule.  Lincoln will discuss how to choose a goal; taking risks; doing the work; and seeing it through!  Read Lincoln's blog at  http://runner4g.blogspot.com/.

"Sports Nutrition Therapy" - Crystal Zabka, nutritionist.

March 15
"Swimming to New Heights" - Ann Kennedy, competitor swimmer, master swimmer, and triathlete will present on the key components for success; training techniques; benefits of swimming; preparing for race day and side affects. 

March 27
"Bike maintenance, training and proper fitting" - TREK Bike Store

April 5
"Training and Overuse Injuries" - Carly Thomsen, PT, DPT and Marcia Esola, MS, PT from The Nebraska Medical Center Physical Therapy Department will present common training mistakes and injuries that one may experience. 

April 26
"Yoga for Runners" - Julieanne Hutchcraft, RN, BSN, yoga teacher, and runner will present some yoga basics along with yoga designed for runners.  Techniques, core positions and strengthening tools will be exhibited. 

May 17
Top 10 Tips for a Successful Triathlon - Kurt Beisch, Race Director for Race Omaha, will present on tricks he has found that helps with race preparation, transitions and mental awareness.  Kurt will also give some tips on this year's Omaha Women's Triathlon and what to expect from the course and what kind of support will be available during the race for competitors.

May 22
Do you struggle with your weight?  Feeling defeated with your weight gain?  Levin Collins, Director of Common Grounds in Elkhorn, will present his own personal story on his weight loss.  After being diagnosed with congestive heart failure, Levin dramatically changed his lifestyle and has lost 126 pounds since January 2011 and continues to lose weight.  Find out what changes he made and how he has been able to continue to lose weight and what his long term goals have become.
