Genetic counselors are master-level professionals who work as part of the Olson Center healthcare team to provide information and support resources to individuals and families. Our genetic counselor is Sara Fisher. In the prenatal setting, our counselors have the opportunity to meet with individuals and families prior to conception and during pregnancy. Reasons a family may see a genetic counselor might include certain pregnancy or family history concerns, advanced maternal age, abnormal screening or testing results, pregnancy loss, abnormal ultrasound findings or new prenatal diagnosis. Genetic counselors may also discuss different testing options for families who are at low risk.
